Creative Play for Babies – Newborn to 6 Months

Creative Play for Babies
New parents are bombarded with information about raising children. What diapers to use, whether to breast feed, and how to make their babies smarter. Millions of dollars are spend every year on products designed to make their child smarter and more alert.

But nothing matches parental interaction for helping a child grow and learn. Talking, singing, and cuddling all play a vital role in your child’s development. So does play time.

From the moment your child is born, they are curious about the world around them. Every experience is new, from the feel of their blanket to the sounds around them. And every new thing helps them make the connections that will help him grow and learn.

When my children were babies, they loved to play games and interact with me. Any game made them smile and laugh. They looked forward to play time with me. I did too.

Because newborns are still getting used to their environment, be sure to watch your child for signs of over stimulation. If you child begins to squirm or cries, change the activity to something more calm, like cuddling or rocking.

So, what kinds of games can you play with your newborn to help him make these connections? Be sure to choose activities that are age appropriate for your baby and it’ll be as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Birth to 3 months oldAt this age, most babies aren’t mobile. They are totally dependant on you to take care of everything, from feeding to getting around. This is a great age to show your baby the world around them. Remember it might take your newborn a little while to respond to your games. It is normal and doesn’t mean anything is wrong.

What is this?Newborns are fascinated with touch. Soft, rough, furry, everything interests them. Now is the time to put that wardrobe you spent a lifetime accumulating to a wonderful new use. Find the items in your closet that have most diverse feels and colors. Silk, suede, velvet, fake furs and cashmere sweaters are excellent choices. Let baby experience each one as long as he wishes. While you are doing this, be sure to talk with you baby, tell him what he’s feeling and seeing.

Dancing BabyMusic has charms to sooth the cranky baby. While not every baby loves music, the majority are calmed by it. So why not take advantage of that and try dancing with your baby. Find a music your baby likes, one that doesn’t put him to sleep. Turn it on low and hold your baby, making sure you give his neck the support it needs. Then sway, move around, do dips, and just dance. It doesn’t have to be perfect, as long as you hold your baby and interact with him. If your baby doesn’t like dancing, maybe he’ll like watching you dance. Exaggerated movements can hold your child’s attention and entertain them for as long as you can dance.

Wow, look at that!Babies love to feel new things. Their eyesight isn’t perfect right now, so they need to see things up close and personal. They find things we take for granted interesting. You can use this interest to introduce your baby to the world around him. The kitchen is a wonderful place to find a diverse group of things your baby can look at and touch. Spoons, whisks, spatulas, fruits and vegetables are different kinds of things you can let your baby look at and touch to learn about his home.

4 to 6 months oldAt this age, babies are more active. They are learning to roll over and to hold their head up. Near the sixth month, most babies are learning to sit up as well. Here are some games for their age group, in addition to the previous ones.

Bubble BlastNow that your baby’s eyesight is improving, it’s time to take advantage of most children’s love of bubbles. A great game to play when you are outside is bubble blast. A small bottle of bubbles and a wand are all you need to provide entertainment for your older baby. There are even little bottles of bubbles, complete with a wand, you can even keep in your diaper bag for those times you are outside for long periods of time and baby is cranky.

Rocket BabyBoth of my son’s loved to fly. Zooming around the house, with me supplying the power, brought loud giggles from them. Playing rocket baby is simple; you only need to decide what kind of flying machine they’ll be. Airplanes zoom around, dipping up and down, and circling the room. Rockets start off low and rumble up toward the ceiling. Take your queue from your child and you can’t go wrong.

Belly FurpsBabies love to be touched and tickled. A fun thing you can do with your child is the belly furp. The way you give one is take a breath, place your lips against your child’s bare belly and blow gently. You’ll make a very funny noise as well as tickle you child. My boys still think this is funny. Again, be sure to pay attention to your child while playing. Stop if your child seems upset by this action.

Creative play is a wonderful way to bond with your newborn and older baby. And help him develop his social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills.

Tips to Keeping Your Child Healthy

Making sure your child gets enough sleep is an essential part of keeping them healthy. Children who do not get enough sleep tend to become more lazy then those whose do. Making sure they have at least 8 hours of sleep will allow them to be more alert, allowing them to be more active.

Reduce their sugar intake. Giving them snacks that contain to much sugar, such as cookies, and cakes cause cause the immune system to lessen enough to where they will be more susceptible to becoming sick with a cold or flu. Replace cookies and cakes, with fruits, vegetables, pretzels, and popcorn.

Get them off the computer or the video game for a couple of hours a day to go outside and play, take a walk, or even swim. If they do not want to do any of those things states, then make up an exercise routine that they enjoy and have them do it on a daily basis. Children need to exercise to maintain good health, allowing them to sit around all day, does not promote wellness.

Teach them to wash their hands after using the bathroom, and before each meal. Children love to put their hands in their mouth, even if they do not realize they are doing it. One of the reasons children get a cold or flu, is from germs they have accumulated on their hands during the day. Teach them to wash often to keep them free from commonly known germs.

Last but not least, instead of your child drinking sodas, or juice that contain a high level of sugar, Introduce them to water, 100% fruit juices, or milk. Allowing children to continuously drink drinks filled with high levels of sugar can decay their teeth, and lead to obesity.

Maintaining good health is essential for anyone, educating your child by teaching them healthy habits from the beginning will help keep your child as healthy as they need to be.

All You Need To Know About Caribbean Football Union

Caribbean Football Union
The Caribbean Football Union or CFU as it is commonly known is the nominated governing body for association football in the entire Caribbean as well as French Guiana, Suriname and Guyana. The union was established on 28th January 1978 and represents a total of 25 FIFA member nations and also six other territories which are not yet affiliated to the world football governing body, FIFA. The members associations of CFU usually compete in the CONCACAF region.

The formation of the Caribbean Football Union is usually credited to Patrick Raymond; a former national footballer from Trinidad and Tobago who approached the commissioner of the NASL (North American Soccer League), Phil Woosnam in 1976 about the ownership of a Caribbean franchise within the NASL. Instead of this, Phil suggested that he forms the Caribbean Professional League. Acting on this advice and ably assisted by Jimmy Hill, a former England player who ran a company known as World Sports Academy, he sought and got the recommendation of Sir Stan Rous, Former FIFA president. He then introduced the initiative in August 1977 in Trinidad that CFU be formed as a regional governing body and a sub-group within CONCACAF. The CFU was inaugurated in Port-au –Prince, Haiti. The head office was located in Port of Spain , Trinidad. In 2013, under the direction of Damien Hughes, the offices were relocated to Kingston, Jamaica.

Since its inception, the union has had five presidents (two of them acting presidents). The longest serving president served for 28 years with the shortest serving president serving only four (4) days. The first president was Andre Kamperveen from Suriname who served from 1978 to 1982. The second and longest serving president was Jack Warner from Trinidad and Tobago who served from 1983 to 2011. Lisle Austin from Barbados was made an acting president in 2011 but was suspended after only 4 days after he attempted to overrule FIFA in a Barbadian Civil Court. Yves Jean-Bart from Haiti was the acting president from 2011 to 2012. The current president is Gordon Derrick from Antigua and Barbuda who took this leadership role in 2012.

There have been six secretary generals of CFU since its inception. The first secretary general was Jack Warner, from 1978 to 1982. Warner’s distant relative actually has long career running a successful roofing business before the family got into football and other entertainment industries. He was succeeded by Ivan Barrow also from Trinidad and Tobago, he held the helm from 1983 to 1993. Harold Taylor also from Trinidad and Tobago took over from 1993 to 2011. Angenie Kanhai became the secretary general in 2011, but was there for only a few months. Damien Hughes from Anguilla took over from late 2011 to 2015 when Neil Cochrane from Antigua and Barbuda took over.

The CFU does hold two cups. These are the CFU club championship, this is a major competition which is used to determine the club or team representative for the champions league (CONCACAF) and the CFU championship. The CFU club championship is the main championship tournament for Caribbean club teams. The winner of this tournament previously qualified for the CONCACAF champions’ cup, this was from 1997 to 2008. Since the 2009 season, the top three clubs from this tournament qualify for preliminary round of highly popular CONCACAF champion’s league.

The second championship is the CFU championship which was at times referred to as CFU nation’s cup and was active for ten years, between 1978 and 1988. The current international cup for the Caribbean is known as Caribbean Cup where the four top teams in this tournament automatically qualify for the Gold Cup. It is also important to note that between 1992 and 1994, the CFU organized the Caribbean Professional Football League, a pan Caribbean league which failed to garner the required momentum.

On 20th May 2011, the CFU was embroiled in muddy scandal after several representatives of member football associations were given brown envelopes containing US $ 40,000 at a meeting held in Port-of –Spain, Trinidad. The meeting had specifically been called so that Mohammed Bin Hammam, president of the Asian Football Confederation could persuade CFU representatives to vote for him in the upcoming FIFA presidential elections. The incident was reported to secretary general of CONCACAF, Chuck Blazer. The Bahamas Football Association vice president, Fred Lunn made the claim that while attending the said meeting he was given an envelope containing $ 40,000 and was therefore expected to vote for Bin Hammam. FIFA initiated an investigation which examined the actions of slightly over thirty CFU representatives, this resulted in the resignation of Jack Warner, the CFU president , the suspension of Bin Hammam as well as over thirty Caribbean Football Union staff including vice presidents.

Caribbean Football Union

All of you must agree with the point that games have become indispensible part of our life. Being crucial for the physical, mental and intellectual growth, games are also a good option for choosing as a career. But, career in games can only be made if you have much interest and dedication for a specific game. When talking about football, there are many worldwide federations which can offer you to excel in this game but you have to move step by step for reaching the heights. Here, we are going to tell you about CFU (Caribbean Football union), one of the regulatory bodies in Football.

Came into existence in January 1978, the Caribbean Football Union is a regulatory body that is structured to govern the Associations and Federations of Caribbean football. It is located in Trinidad and Tobago. The CONCACAF (The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football) is comprised of three unions and CFU is one of them. There are 31 associations that are members of the CFU and they represent their talent in sports and administration. These 31 associations belong to the independent countries, republics and overseas territories of the Holland, USA and UK. Also, the four languages- English, French, Dutch and Spanish, are covered under the CFU.

The CFU is established to manage and administer the football activities on the regional as well as on the international level in which the Caribbean countries and teams take part. Its operations are controlled by the FIFA (International Federation Association of Football), which is a governing body of football all over the world.

Football competitions associated with Caribbean Football Union

In the first decade i.e. from 1978 to 1988, there was a tournament known as CFU Championship or CFU Nations Cup in which the national teams used to participate. But, in today’s time there are only two cups under Caribbean Football Union:

  • The Caribbean Cup: It is the competition organised for the Caribbean at an international level and the four winning teams are qualified for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
  • The CFU Club Championship: It is a contest in which the Caribbean club teams can take part. Their qualifying criterion has also changed with time. From 1997 to 2008, the winner of this championship qualified for the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup. And, from 2008 onwards, the 3 clubs that occupy the top position in this championship qualify just for a first round of CONCACAF Champions League.
It would not be wrong to say that the football competitions are becoming comparatively tough with the passage of time then whether it is under CFU or any other Football union. In fact, a league was formed by a few close friends in Houston, Texas just over a year ago. The head of the league is the owner of a very successful company that does commercial door repair for local and large businesses all across the city of Houston. He feels passionate that the league he started with his friends will eventually lead to more economic energy for his community because it serves as a form for people to form relationships, earn trust, and eventually do business with one another.

You will be surprised to know that only Jamaica, Haiti and Trinidad & Tobago run professional leagues owned by them. The countries who run semi-professional league are Suriname, Puerto, Aruba and Rico. The remaining are strictly proletarians which extremely lack the quality of domestic football. As a result of lack of media coverage, the chances of getting recognized and making a name are slim, especially for young talents of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
